Our Magneto-Optical Trap (MOT) facility is the work of Professor Brett DePaola. The MOT uses criss-crossed lasers and a magnetic field to capture and cool atoms to near absolute zero. The atoms can then be probed by ion beams or by intense lasers from KLS. This set of photos was taken in October 2008.
