p 46: "Ebenezer Ingersoll (Richard, Richard, Richard, John, Richard), born Sept. 16, 1755
at Willington, Conn.; died June 26,1834 at New York City; m. Sept. 23, 1779, Greenwich,
Hampshire Co., Mass., Margaret Whitcomb, born 1760; died Dec. 2, 1836. He was a
blacksmith; enlisted in the Revolutionary War from Petersham, Mass. Apr. 20,1775; served
3 weeks in John Wheeler's Co., Jan., 1776, enlisted as Corporal in Joel Fletcher's Co., Col.
Ephraim Doolittle's Regt.; also Sergeant, May or June, 1776, and served till Dec, 1776, in
Benj. Gates' Co.; also March 1, 1776 for 10 mo. as Sergeant and artificer in Benj. Gates' Co.
Was in the Battle of Bunker Hill. He received a pension, and widow also. His will mentions sons
John and Nathaniel; daughters Mary Smith, Ruth Sykes, Candace Sykes, Margaret Gilbert, and
Harriet Baldwin. His last place of residence was Marshall, Oneida Co., where the will was
probated June 25, 1836. He lived in Rupert, Vt., where he is recorded as selling several parcels
of land from Oct. 1, 1793 to May 2, 1807. He probably moved from there to Canton, N. Y."
