[5050] "William Burrows of New Ipswich, New Hampshire"
William Wyman Fiske
NEHGR v154 p290 (Jul 2000)
p297: "Sarah (Haskett) Ingersoll was Samuel's second wife, whom he married 29 July 1702
following the death of his first wife, Elizabeth, on 22 January 1701/2. On 5 September 1700
Samuel Ingersoll had married Elizabeth Wakefield, daughter of Samuel and Elizabeth (Dove)
Wakefield, born 2 March 1675/6. Elizabeth Ingersoll, the only child of Samuel and Elizabeth
(Wakefield), and indeed the only Elizabeth Ingersoll whose birth is recorded in Essex County
between 1650 and 1730, was baptized 15 March 1702 at Salem's First Church, two months
after her mother's death."
(Note that Elizabeth is sometimes identified as a daughter of Richard Ingersoll and Ruth
Dodge, based on an interpretation of land records by Sidney Perley. This article exams the
issue in greater detail and concludes that Elizabeth is a daughter of Samuel Ingersoll.)
