"Rachel Strong, the wife of Samuel D'Honeur, was born May 7,1704. Her mother
was Abigail Terry. Her father was Selah Strong, who had come from Northampton,
Mass., and had settled in Setauket, Town of Brookhaven, of which town he became
an important inhabitant; he died intestate in 1732... Rachel Strong survived her
husband many years. Nov. 17, 1761, "Rachel D'Honneur" witnessed the will of Obadiah
Smith of Smithtown. Aug. 9, 1778 and Feb. 22, 1780, she was mentioned as "my honored
mother-in-law Rachel D'Honeur" in the will of William Nicoll of Islip..."
