"The De Honeur Family"
Rosalie Fellows Bailey
NYGBR v63 p176 (Apr 1932)
"Samuel D'Honeur (as he spelled his name in his will) was the younger son of Johannes
D'Honeur; he was bapt. in New York, January 10, 1704... The time of his first appearance
in Huntington is not known. It could not have been much before the above mentioned date
(Nov. 12, 1724). It may be at this time, and certainly by 1730, that he married Rachel
Strong, daughter of Selah Strong of Brookhaven, Long Island. Their daughter Johanna
D'Honeur was baptized at Huntington, Long Island, May 2, 1731...Samuel D'Honeur was
drowned in crossing Long Island Sound. He must have thus died in January, 1749, before
the 18th, for he was assessed in 1749 and his will was proved on the 18th..."
