Zenghu Chang's group conducts experiments on high harmonic generation in the Laser Lab.

 

High Harmonic Generation

This experiment is a study of how laser-matter interactions generate high-order harmonics of the original laser frequencies, generating up to keV-energy laser-like XUV/x-ray emmisions. The differences between the behaviour of atomic gases and molecular gases is of particular interest, as is using the generated harmonics to further ionize a target.
