pp65-66: "Scottoway Whitcomb (James, James, Robert, John) was married to Mary -----, who
was born in Rochester, Mass., August 15, 1789 [1739?], and died in Washington County, N. Y.,
August 29, 1814. He died July 28, 1812. The family removed from Rochester to Western,
Mass.; thence to Brookfield and thence to Granville, Washington County, N. Y., where
Scottoway was assessor in 1788. The records of the War Department at Washington, show that
Scottoway Whitcomb served in the Revolutionary War... Both Scottoway and Mary were buried
in Granville."
