"JOSEPH COOK, son of John Cook and his wife Mary Borden, was born probably about 1664
at Portsmouth, R.L and died there 21 March 1745/6. A map dating from about 1712, now in the
Portsmouth Scrap Book, shows the land of Joseph Cook on the south side of what is now Glen Road.
Joseph Cook of Rhode Island and SUSANNA BRIGGS of Tiverton were married 19 April 1692 at
Tiverton, by Joseph Church, Justice of the Peace for the County of Bristol. Susanna, daughter of
John and Hannah (Fisher) Briggs, was born probably about 1672 and evidently died before 1742
when Joseph made his will without mentioning her."
