"Solomon Mason, son of Robert and Hannah (Holmes) Mason, was born at Ashford, Connecticut,
on 25 April 1725 and died at Greenwich, Massachusetts, on 15 September 1786. He married at
Ashford on 15 November 1753 Sarah Smith. She was born at Needham, Massachusetts, on 7
April 1735 and baptized there on 13 April 1735, daughter of Samuel and Zipporah (Morse)
Smith of Needham and Ashford. While Samuel Smith's probate record is frustratingly complex
and yet incomplete, there seems no reason to doubt that Solomon's wife was Samuel's
daughter."
