A note identifies his wife as Tabitha Smith, "one of the two daughters of
Jonathan Smith, of Smithtown."

"Tabitha Smith (Jonathan, Jonathan, Richard), b. 18 Feb 1704/5, d. 17 Jan 1755, m. 6 Apr 1727,
Nicoll Floyd, b. 27 Aug 1705, d. 8 Mch 1755, son of Richard and Margaret (Nicoll) Floyd, of
Mastic, Long Island. They were married at Smithtown, by the Rev. Dr. Samuel Johnson, who was a
brother-in-law of Nicoll Floyd. Dr. Johnson was then rector of Christ Church, Stratford, Conn.,
and was afterward the first president of King's College (Columbia College) New York. Nicoll
Floyd was a farmer and had extensive land holdings at Mastic. His sister, Susannah, married
Edmund Smith."
