Memorial Day, Monday, 26 May was Day Three of the 2014 Cottonwood 200 and goes from Council Grove back to Topeka, mostly along US-56 and K-99. You can see my own creative interpretation of the route via my ride report at Garmin Connect. You may notice the dearth of pictures here. It was a beautiful day for a bike ride, and as I left Council Grove I noticed the road markings for the optional long course on a county road towards Dunlap. I took it, somehow thinking that it connected back to US-56. It doesn't. I eventually figured that out and high-tailed it back to the official course. Riding hard, I just barely made the first SAG before it closed, then eventually caught up to the pack by the time we reached Burlingame. The day wound up being a fast, if unintentional, century!
