Saturday, 25 May was Day One of the 2013 Cottonwood 200, and took us from Topeka to Council Grove, on various roads south of Topeka to highways 99, and 177. You can examine the route at MapMyRide, or see my own ride report at Garmin Connect. Most of the sunny, 70-80F early east-west ride had 10 mph steady crosswind gusting to 20 mph. Upon heading south on 177, though, we got steady 20 mph headwind gusting to 27. It was a long haul. Had a nice piece of coconut pie in Alta Vista for lunch and a Mexican dinner at "La Hacienda" in Council Grove.
