Savage, in his Genealogical Dictionary, says he was married to Mary ----, January 16,
 
1671. Concerning his death, the following is quoted from the Middlesex Court Files...
 
'John Whitcombe falling into ye river was by a providence of god drowned in Pennecuk river
 
ye 7th of this instant Aprill [07 Apr 1683]'."
