[1731] Note: This Ruth Dodge is frequently mistaken for another Ruth Dodge, daughter of Edward
and Mary (Haskell) Dodge, who married Israel Balch. Janna Bennington Larson, cited below,
makes a convincing case for the parentage presented here.

"RUTH DODGE (John?, William) was born say 1677 and died after 17 May 1735 when widow Ruth
Ingersoll and her children, John Ingersoll and Richard Ingersoll, sold to Benjamin Gerrish a house
and lot in Salem, formerly Richard Ingersoll's. She may have lived to 1741... Ruth "of Beverly married
at Salem on 28 April 1698 RICHARD INGERSOLL. He was bom say 1672, son of John Ingersoll (Richard)
and Sarah (Buckley). Richard, "late of Salem," died before 1 July 1708, when letters of administration
were granted to his relict, Ruth Ingersoll. He was a mariner."

p. 16: "Richard Ingersoll (Richard, John, Richard), m. April 28,1699, Ruth Dodge of
Beverly. He died before July 1, 1708, when administration upon his estate was
granted to his widow, Ruth Ingersoll. The last mention of her in the records is a deed
given May 17, 1735, when "Ruth Ingersoll, widow, John Ingersoll, and Richard Ingersoll,
cordwainers, all of Salem, and Sarah, wife of John, sell to Benjamin Gerrish, house and
lot m Salem, formerly Richard Ingersoll's." (Essex Deeds, 84:122.)"
