[451] "The Boone Family; a Genealogical History"
Hazel Atterbury Spraker
Rutland, VT, 1922
(Reprinted, Genealogical Publishing, Baltimore, MD. 1974)
p546: "William Scholl of England and wife Leah Morgan were the parents of two brothers who
married into the Boone family. The ancestry of William Scholl remains wrapped in obscurity, as
careful investigation fails to reveal any definite information concerning it. The ancestry of his wife,
Leah Morgan, seems just as difficult to trace."

"The Jess M. Thompson Pike County History"
Thompson, Jess M.
Pittsfield, IL; Pike County Historical Society; 1967
Chapter 42: "Little of an authentic nature is known of the Scholl family back of William Scholl,
father of Abraham, Peter and Joseph. A Peter Scholl and his wife, Sarah Colyer, are known to have
resided in the Raritan district of New Jersey from 1714 to 1731, when they disappeared, leaving no
trace... The weight of evidence, however, seems to point to one Jacob Scholl as the immediate
ancestor of William Scholl and the paternal grandfather of Abraham, Peter and Joseph. The same
evidence points to the Peter Scholl of the above reference as a brother of Jacob. Jacob Scholl came
to the New World in a very early day, coming either from Germany or Holland."
Chapter 101: "William Scholl was a son of Jacob Scholl and Jane Morgan, the latter a sister of
Sarah Morgan who married Squire Boone and became the mother of 11, among them Daniel, Edward,
Jonathan and the second Squire, who have figured prominently in this history. William Scholl, the
father of Peter Scholl, was therefore a first cousin of Edward Boone, the father of Mary and Charity
Boone, the former of whom became the wife of Peter."
