"Marriage Record of James Penniman and Lydia Eliot"
Waldo Chamberlain Sprague
NEHGR v107, p236 (July 1953)
"I learned of the marriage in 1631 on James Pemiman [sic] and Lydia - in the parish
of High Laver, co. Essex... '1631 James Penieman and Lydia his wife were married 26th
July 1631'."
"The English Origin of James Penniman"
Clifford L. Stott
TAG v71, pp12-18 (Jan 1996)
"James Pennyman or Penniman (James), as the name became known in New England, was baptized
at Chipping Ongar, Essex, on 29 July 1599 and died at Braintree, Massachusetts, on 26
December 1664. He was married at High Laver, Essex, 26 July 1631, to Lydia Eliot, who was
baptized at Nazeing, Essex, on 1 July 1610, daughter of Bennet and Lettice (Aggar) Eliot.
Lydia married second, at Medfield, Massachusetts, 7 [December?] 1665, to Thomas Wight. She
died, probably in Medfield, before 19 July 1676, when her estate was inventoried."

v162 pp65-72 (Jan 2008); pp128-139 (Apr 2008)
(Fiske provides an elaborate justification for his reconstruction of the
very early Eliot family across the multiple issues listed above.)

- NOTE:
[5274]
Her will named the above five daughters and another daughter, MaryPeniman, who was not married. She signed it very clearly as "LydiaWright." The name "Carie" for daughter Abigail is also quite clearlywritten.
