The Annals cite Silas' death as being on 14 Nov 1844.

Reputedly part of 1787 party, but not on return.
[Willard Tottle claims 1778- email 2 Jun 2001. Othneil, Silas, John & 11 other families
incl. John Kelly b. 1748 made up party.]

Became local Methodist preacher.

"Silas Smith, UEL and his descendants" R. Janet Powell states, "lived for a time in
Germantown, Pennsylvania and then in the Log Gaol district in Sussex County, New Jersey"
Also implies a relationship between two families of John & Joseph Smith, "Family history states
that she (Esther, wife of Silas) was a cousin of Silas but this has not been proved".
Preponderance of evidence is that they are cousins.
