[81] Sometime after the death of his father in 1689 went to Billerica as an apprentice
on the farm of Joseph Thompson, Sr., a friend of his uncle William. John settled
as a farmer on the north side of Nutting's Pond. In 1698, he was embroiled in
scandal and was judged to the father of Elizabeth Frost's bastard child.
