Washington county, in central Kentucky, was formed in 1792. The southern
half became Marion county in 1834.

"John Willett (1787-1821) married Matilda daughter of Thomas and Mary
Ann Summers in Washington County on Oct. 13,1806. John Willett was
called by Ben Webb in his "The Centenary of Catholicity in Kentucky",
1884, one of the patriarchs of the Cartwright's Creek settlement and a
member of St. Rose's Parish. John and Matilda had eight children...
(Note: Matilda married second Benjamin W. Simmons in Washington
County on Jan. 10, 1824. He died in October 1825.) "
