As Matt Kennedy was a prominent member of the community, the
obituary is detailed and appears on the front page, with a photo.
"Matt Kennedy was prominent in the affairs of Leavenworth county
and was an active Democrat. In 1866 he served in the state legislature
and for 25 years was a member of district No. 4 school board. In 1902
he was elected county commissioner without opposition and held that
office until 1910. He was a stockholder of the Easton State Bank."
