The following taken from The Allen Family Home Page by Jack MacDonald:
"Gideon Allen, believed to be the son of George Allen and his second wife,Katherine, was
born at Sandwich in the New Plymouth Colony of Massachusetts (now within Barnstable County,
Massachusetts). After his father, George, passed away, Gideon resided with his mother, Katherine,
and step-father, John Collins, at Boston. Along with his older half-brother, John, and several other
individuals, Gideon has been noted as being one of the original founders of the town of Swansea
in what is now Bristol County, Massachusetts. Gideon later administered his step-father's estate in 1670."
"Gideon was later married in about 1670 to a woman named Sarah Prudden atMilford in New Haven
County, Connecticut. Sarah, who was born on 9 May1650, was the daughter of Rev. Peter Prudden and
Joan Boyse. After their marriage, Gideon and Sarah settled at Swansea for a few years, but eventually
returned to Milford, where they resided for the remainder oftheir lives. Gideon died at Milford, Connecticut in 1693."
