The family name has many alternate spellings, but seems to have normalized to
"Larison". A colorful tale is told that James and John were Danish nobles on the
 run from their enemies, and eventually fled to America. This unlikely tale is told in
 even more unlikely form in Cornelius Wilson Larison's "The Larisun famili",
 which is written in Dr. Larison's own alphabet.
