Recent experiments have begun to investigate ultracold quantum gases in reduced dimensions. One recent experiment in particular has measured three-body recombination for an effectively one-dimensional Bose-Einstein condensate~[1]. We have completed an analysis of the threshold behavior of the recombination rate for gases in 1D and 2D, and have found a surprising result: The threshold exponent for recombination of indistinguishable bosons is identical to that for indistinguishable fermions in 1D. In both cases, the recombination rate is suppressed as T^3. In 2D as in 3D, however, the rate for bosons is energy-independent and shows no suppression at threshold, whereas the identical fermion recombination rate is suppressed at T \rightarrow 0.
