Biking Across Kansas returned to Johnson City as our starting point on Friday, or Day 0. It proved an adventure for me just to get there. Manhattan had a severe thunderstorm on Thursday night, and when I started backing out of my garage at oh-dark-thirty Friday morning, I found a downed tree blocking my driveway! That changed my plans radically. As I chopped the offending tree up to clear the way, my brother volunteered to ferry me out to the start. I will be eternally grateful.

I got to Johnson City too late to ride to the border that night, so that got folded into the next day's ride.
