Friday, 01 June was Day One of the 2018 Kandango. The course went south from Junction City through White City, came back north through Dwight, and finished at the old St. Joseph's church in Geary County. You can see my own ride reports at Garmin Connect or Strava. The day promised to be hot and windy, so I left JC at the crack of dawn. That proved to be much earlier than the organizers expected, so I outran most SAGs and the bus that was to take us over a gravel stretch between Humboldt Creek and McDowell Creek roads. Few roadies braved the gravel, and Bob from KC and I finished a full hour ahead of everyone else. We got our own private tour of the historic church as reward.
