(An deed of Indian lands was granted to Richard Wodhull
by the Sachem Tobackus, 08 Dec 1690. Several other land transactions
between the town of Brookhaven and Richard are also recorded. The
earliest of these I presume to be with the elder immigrant Richard, the
later with his son.)

"Richard Woodhull, (II.), (Hon.), second generation from Richard Wodhull I.,
Patentee of Brookhaven, Long Island, was the eldest son of Richard and Deborah
Wodhull. He was born October 9,1649. He married, August 19, 1680, Temperance,
daughter of the Rev. Jonah Fordham, of Southampton, Long Island. He inherited the
paternal estate. In 1678 he was a Justice of the Honorable Court of Assize, and was
Colonial Captain in the King's Troops in 1685... He died October 18, 1699. In his
will dated October 13, 1699, mention is made of his "beloved wife, Temperance,"
and of their children."
