"The Family of Richard Smith of Smithtown, Long Island"
Frederick Kinsman Smith

"Job Smith (Richard), born probably in 1647, died about 1719, married Elizabeth,
daughter of John and Hannah (Brewster) Thompson, of Setauket, L.I. John Thompson was
one of the fifty-five early proprietors of Brookhaven, going to Setauket in 1656. He
was born 3 Jne 1609, died 14 Oct 1688, married Hannah Brewster, a sister of the Rev.
Nathaniel Brewster and daughter of Francis Brewster of New Haven. We have very little
in the way of direct record or information regarding Job Smith, whose descendants
possibly out-number those of any other of Richard Smith's children."
