Rauf (later known as Ralph) Cudworth, the posthumous son of Rauf, was
born shortly after 14 Sept. 1572, the day on which his father's will was
probated. He was educated for the ministry. He entered Emanuel College
at Cambridge University. He took the usual degrees, became a Fellow of
Emanuel College, and Lecturer at St. Andrews, Cambridge. He soon
received an appointment as Rector of Aller, in Somerset, a Living in the
gift of Emanuel College, which he held during his lifetime and which,
even after his death in 1624, continued a pension to his children.
