There are currently openings at JRM in our experimental and/or theoretical groups.
We are always seeking new graduate students interested in AMO physics.

Research Associate Positions
Theoretical Atomic, Molecular & Optical Physics
Kansas State University

Two postdoctoral positions in theoretical atomic, molecular and optical physics (AMO) will become available in Fall 2012 in the group of Prof. C. D. Lin. Applicants with a PhD degree, a strong background in AMO physics and in scientific computing, are invited to apply. Currently the main interests include strong field rescattering physics and attosecond physics of atoms and molecules. The successful candidate should show a commitment to serving a diverse population. More details of the current research of the group can be viewed here.

The initial appointment will be for one year, starting September 1, 2012, but could be renewable contingent on job performance and need for services. Screening of applicants will begin on April 21, 2012, and the search will remain open until the positions are filled. Send your cover letter, curriculum vitae, publication list, and arrange for three recommendation letters to be sent to:

Research Associate Positions
James R. Macdonald Laboratory
Kansas State University

The J.R. Macdonald Laboratory, Department of Physics, Kansas State University, is seeking RESEARCH ASSOCIATES in the experimental areas of (i) coherent control of ultrafast molecular processes, (ii) intense-field short-pulse physics and (iii) attosecond physics. Candidates must have earned a Ph.D. (or equivalent) in Physics or a related field. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in one or more of these areas: femtosecond laser systems; ultrafast/intense laser interactions with atoms/molecules; pulse shaping for coherent control; high harmonic generation. The initial appointment will be for a one year term with a second and possible third year term appointment contingent upon performance and availability of funding. The successful candidate(s) should also demonstrate a strong commitment to mentoring of graduate students and to serving a diverse population.

Candidates should submit a letter of application and a vita including a list of publications to:

Director, J. R. Macdonald Laboratory
Physics Department
116 Cardwell Hall
Kansas State University
Manhattan, KS 66506-2601
jrmpostdoc@phys.ksu.edu

Candidates should also arrange to have three letters of reference sent to the same address. Electronic applications can be sent to jrmpostdoc@phys.ksu.edu. Screening of applications will begin 21 May 2012 and will continue until the positions are filled.
